Child Nutrition Program

Join our National Award Winning Program! You can receive reimbursement for serving nutritious meals to children in your child care!

The Child Care Food Program (CCFP) is a USDA Child Nutrition Program that provides reimbursement to family child care providers for serving nutritious foods to the child care children, and assists caregivers in helping children develop healthy eating behaviors. 4C’s of Alameda County is a non-profit organization which sponsors the CCFP for family child care homes.

The CCFP reimburses for a maximum of 2 main meals and 1 snack, or 2 snacks and 1 main meal, per enrolled child each day. The current rates are as follows (in US Dollars):

Tier 1 : $1.14(B) $2.05(L) $0.58(S) $1.97(D)
Tier 2 : $0.47(B) $1.27(L) $0.16(S) $1.19(D)

Key : [B]reakfast, [L]unch, [S]nack, [D]inner

In order to qualify for the higher reimbursement rate (Tier I) for meals served to enrolled children, the provider must be located in an area of financial need or demonstrate that their household meets income criteria. Further, a Tier I rate will be paid for individual children if their parents complete an eligibility application and demonstrate that their household meets income criteria.

Child care providers must serve nutritious meals and snacks which meet the CCFP meal pattern requirements, and keep menus and attendance records daily. 4C’s will provide you with all training and forms.

4C’s will also offer you a nutrition education program specifically for child care providers on the CCFP, including workshops, informational handouts, recipes, and assistance from our staff. In addition, one of our nutrition program staff will visit your home three times a year to observe meals and provide you and your child care children with interesting and up-to-date nutrition materials and activities.

How to enroll: once you receive your Family Child Care license and begin providing care for children, call the 4C’s Child Nutrition Program at 510-690-2155 to attend our next program orientation.
