Memo to Participating Providers

What is CACFP?

Child and Adult Care Food Program is the official name of the program that reimburses providers for the meals served to children in their care.  It is also commonly called the Child Care Food Program.

Why did 4Cs terminate their CACFP contract?

After 38 years of running the CACFP program, 4Cs of Alameda County terminated their CACFP contract with the California Department of Education Nutrition Services for a few reasons:

  1. The CACFP program has many rules and regulations and is very complex to administer.
  2. The revenue for being a sponsor does not adequately cover the cost needed to provide the level of service we deem necessary.

What does "CACFP Sponsor" mean?

A CACFP sponsor is an organization that administers the CACFP program. 4Cs of Alameda County was just one of the local CACFP sponsors.

Who do I contact to receive meal reimbursement benefit?

Many providers participating in 4Cs of Alameda County's CACFP are now being served by CoCo Kids. You can find information about their food program at

What about 4Cs' other Child Health and Nutrition Programs, like CalFresh and trainings?

4Cs will continue to offer CalFresh enrollment and recertifications as well as CPR, first aid, and health and safety trainings.
