Child Health and Nutrition Program

Required one time training for child care providers to obtain family child care license. Class includes additional hour of child nutrition. Child care center and child care homes must have one staff member on-site at all times with completion in preventive health practices.

Trauma 101

 

Session 1 of this series will cover the effects of various forms of trauma and toxic stress in early childhood, children’s brain development in the first five years, and the impact of traumatic stress on children’s brain and overall development.

 

In this training you will learn to:

  • Learn the neurobiology of trauma and the impact of toxic stress on the brain and behavior of a child
  • Learn the difference of a challenging behavior and a trauma trigger
  • Learn key trauma sensitive strategies that support children and build their resiliency to reduce the adverse effects of early trauma

 

3-part series, designed especially for child care providers

 

You must attend the Trauma 101 to attend Going Deeper Part 1 and Part 2.

*Participants who attend Trauma 101 will be given the opportunity to register for Going Deeper Part 1 and Part 2 after completing Trauma 101*

Trauma Informed Practices in ECE: Going Deeper

Part 1

 

Following an Overview of Trauma 101, this module will help participants go deeper in learning and applying strategies to support children affected by trauma through relationships and the Environment.

Participants will learn:

  • How to develop caring and attuned relationships with young children with histories of trauma
  • Trauma-sensitive strategies for arranging the environment in the home or early learning programs
  • TIP best practices and key strategies that support children’s healing and resiliency, and that strengthen protective factors

Part 2

 

In the second session of Going Deeper, participants will look at trauma through the lens of an individual child. They will apply learning by developing individualized trauma-sensitive behavior plans for children with histories of trauma.

Participants will learn to:

  • Observe behavior, identify triggers, and determine the meaning of a child’s behavior
  • Use data to inform the development of trauma-sensitive behavior plans, specifically for children who have experienced trauma and/or have persistent challenging behaviors

Child Health & Safety: Pediatric CPR & First Aid

This CPR & First Aid Training course is designed especially for child care providers. First time providers, those needing to renew, assistants, and parents welcomed.

Receive a 2 year certification for both CPR and First Aid (free textbook and DVD), EMSA stickers, training on current Community Care Licensing standards and forms, coaching on emergency scenarios specific to a child care setting, opportunity to network with other child care providers. This course meets the California State regulations for child care providers.
