Using American Sign Language (ASL) with Our Very Young

This workshop is an introduction into the world of true communication with very young babies and toddlers using hands and facial expressions. By examining American Sign Language (ASL) and its use with babies as young as 4 months old, we will discover the positive effects that ASL has on communication between our very young and their families/caregivers. We will cover books, songs and activities that help expose all children in childcare programs to ASL.

In this training you will be introduced and practice over 140 signs covering:

  • Colors (11 Signs)
  • Animals (34 Signs)
  • Family (12 Signs)
  • Feelings (8 Signs)
  • Manners (12 Signs)
  • Bathroom (7 Signs)
  • Activities (11 Signs)
  • Things (16 Signs)
  • Food Groups (31 Signs)
